A Sweet Giveaway

"Cinderella Paper Dolls, 1920" Giclee Print
When I was a little girl, I loved paper dolls.

I had an American Girl set, and loved to play with them. Oh, yes --I was an American Girl gal over a decade ago, when the franchise was at it's peak. I had the Twin Doll, several sets of books, and even the computer game that let you write your own play --but what I really loved, and the only thing I've often wished I could put in my hope chest for my future daughters, were the dolls.

The opportunity to pass on paper dolls with infinitely more meaning has presented itself in the form of Noble Rose Press, a company run by my sweet friends, Breezy and Emily Rose Brookshire. These darling paper dolls are inspired by women of faith, from Katie Luther to Idelette Calvin to Pocahontas to Pricilla Mullins, to my favorite set (two of my favorite women in history), Sarah Edwards and Abigail Adams.

I have all three sets myself, and I must say that they're just as darling as I thought they would be. Each is equipped with several outfits, and the inside of each booklet holds a short biography of the women represented. You can also make a pocket in the back of the books to hold the paper dolls. Although I don't have a little sister to enjoy my dolls, they have a cherished spot in my hope chest (which is, at this point, being overrun mostly by books).

The Brooskhire girls have graciously allowed me to host a giveaway of their paper doll bundle! You don't want to miss the chance to enter and win all three sets of dolls for a sweet gift to give to a special someone now, or to put on layaway for a special someone later. =)

Here's how to enter:
  • For one entry, leave your name and the name of a godly woman in history who has inspired you in your pursuit of biblical womanhood.
  • For two entries, put a link to Noble Rose Press on your blog, Facebook, or Twitter page.
  • For three entires, link back to this post on your blog, Facebook, or Twitter to let others know about the giveaway.
  • For an extra entry, and most importantly, head over to Breezy's blog, A Bowl of Moss and Pebbles, and check out her art sale --all proceeds will go to Rescue Haiti's Children. Please do what you can to spread the word about an amazing opportunity to give aid where it is most certainly needed.
The drawing will be held and the winner announced next Friday!

These paper dolls are so cool! I never had American Girl paper dolls, but I had a great set of Civil War dolls from Gettysburg :)

A woman in history who inspired my was Martin Luther's wife, Catherine. They have a really neat story! If you haven't read it, I highly recommend Kitty, My Rib by E. Jane Mall.

Hi Jasmine,

I am glad I wasn't the only girl who had (and still has) American Girl stuff. Way back before it became big I got my first doll (I have 2 and so does my sister) plus all the furniture and the computer game you mentioned. Reading it made me smile.

The name of a godly woman in history that has inspired me is hard. I haven't really looked back in history a ton. Much less I haven't found one to inspire me.

But in the bible I am always inspired by the story of Hannah.

These are some beautiful paper dolls, thank you for hosting the giveaway.

Hm...Several of the stories of women in the Bible have inspired me in my pursuit of godliness. Hannah, who waited patiently for a son just so she could dedicate him to the Lord. Sarah, who Scripture gives as an example of a submissive wife. Ruth, also. I could go on, but those are a few. :)

A Godly woman who has inspired me in History was a Hawaiian Princess, I can't spell her name, but the Botkin Sisters talk about her in there CD 'Strength and Dignity for Daughters'. She was their exsample of a REAL princess.

Thanks for the givaway Jasmine,

What a lovely giveaway, Jasmine. Ladies who have inspired me (though their not really historic) would be my mother, Carol, Joni Earekson Tada, and an elderly lady from our church, Ms. Hazael.

We used to have so much fun with paper dolls. We had some of Mama's childhood ones, some Civil War time ones in poofy dresses that we got in Tennessee, our American girl ones, and ones we cut from catalogs. We had three times more girls than we had boys, and we built them houses out of cardboard boxes with curtains cut from the J. C. Penny catalog. Such sweet memories. : )

OK--I'm totally with you on the computer program to make plays! Only at that time, I had no brothers, so getting voices for my male characters was difficult! I'll have to go look up my past plays now, but I think they involved a lot of fainting. (-:
Many women in history have inspired me, but right now I'm thinking about Elisabeth Elliot. All that she went through...and her love for God and the Auca Indians despite that is very humbling!

We were big fans of American Girl dolls. My oldest daughter, now 29, had Kirsten, one of the first three dolls that Pleasant Company offered. Kirsten brought much joy to our home and had quite a wardrobe, some which I sewed myself. My younger daughter was given Addy by my mom right before she (my mom) passed away and Kaya a couple of years later. We still have the books, waiting for my granddaughters to read.

I would love to receive the paper dolls for my granddaughters. Thanks for hosting this giveaway.

HI Jasmine! I have the American Girl paper dolls too. I loved them as a little girl. Picking just one woman in history that has inspired me is hard. Probally, my favorite is Abigail Adams. Oh how wonderful Miss Jasmine!

I would LOVE to enter please! :)

I was into paper dolls as well as a little girl (and yes an American Girl fan too) but absolutly LOVED paper dolls! I have eyed those lovely paper dolls at Noble Rose Press myself, and have wanted to purchase the bundle to put into my hope chest for my future children to play with (Lord willing)but have not had the means to do so as of yet! This would be such a blessing to win this neat giveaway!

Someone who has been such an encouragement to me and my walk with my Savior has to be my dear mother! I know to everyone else she is not known or famous, but to me... she is everything I want to become and to pass on her willingness to care for others and her Lord is more than what any other woman in history has, or can ever do for me in the way my dear mother/best friend can! As time goes on and she is no longer here on earth and is praising her heavenly father in heaven, I hope to the future generations in our family will come to know her as a strong, godly woman in our history! :)

I will be posting about your giveaway soon! :)

Blessings in Christ,

I thought of Amy Carmichael and Elizabeth Elliot. Amy Carmichael started a church in Ireland, moved to Japan to do mission work, and finally went to India. There she faced great danger by rescuing girls who would be forced into serving in the Hindu temples. Elizabeth Elliot's husband was murdered by indians, and then she moved into the indian villages with other women and children to spread the Gospel.

Both were extremely courageous and humble in their serving of the Lord.

I was thrilled to see another giveaway of these excellent sets!

I was so blessed to meet Emily and Breezy at last year's VF Father/Daughter retreat, and was amazed to discover that they reside just about 20 minutes down the road from my great-grandparents in Indiana and attend the very church we had visited a few years ago while up there. What a small world! :) While visiting family in Indiana this September, we were invited to their home for lunch and fellowship following church, and it was then that they filled me in on their wonderful project. It was so exciting to see how the art had progressed and to hear of how everything came together. What a special time that was; I couldn't be more proud of these dear friends of mine! :)

Well, having said all that, please do enter me in the giveaway! :) I, too, purchased each available collection for my hopechest, but have a dear friend who wants these so badly.

As for godly women who have inspired me in my pursuit of biblical womanhood, there are many! The main ones are Anne Bradstreet, Susannah Spurgeon, Abigail Adams, Ruth and Sarah from the Bible, and Sarah Edwards.

Thanks for entering me! :)

Here are my other three entries:

I posted about the giveaway here:

I have spread the word about Breezy's project.

And, last but not least, I linked to Noble Rose Press on my blog sidebar. I thought I had already done so, but apparently I had not, so I'm glad you mentioned that as one of the entries! :)

I find myself often considering the example of Abigail, David's first wife. When her then-husband refused to reciprocate the kindness David and his men had shown him, Abigail was wise enough to recognize the danger brewing and head it off. I want to be this in tune with the Lord--to have that kind of discernment.

I have often admired the Noble Rose Press dolls! But I do not own any of the sets. I would love to be included in this give-away!

There are so many Godly women in history that it's almost hard to choose! But at the moment I especially enjoy learning about Elizabeth and Corrie Ten Boom. These Godly sisters spent there lives caring for the people around them, never seeming to notice their own discomforts.

Thank you Jasmine, for posting this! ~Reagan Moore.

Oh my, that first painting she's completed is beautiful! We adopted a daughter from Haiti 7 years ago. As Breezy said in her poem, the "family of birth" doesn't give us worth. It's God and what He chose to do for us that gives us worth.

I'd love to enter! Breezy and Emily have done a truly lovely job making these paper dolls.

As for my choice of a godly woman, I'd have to say Elizabeth Elliot... she has encouraged and inspired me in many ways.

Her artwork, like always, is outstanding!

Ok. I have seen a whole lot of girls say their inspiration was Abigail Adams. I have to admit that ever since I was ten, I have shied away from her because of a completely depressing book I read. Could anyone enlighten me and point me to better sources?
